Summerhill is a school like no other. Anthony De Mello introduced me to A.S. Neill's vision for raising "free" children. As I read, it was impossible not to contemplate my own childhood. Mr. Neill's ideas are indeed radical - freedom beyond what most of us can imagine - even more radical when you learn this book was written in 1960 and the school was opened in 1921. The book is currently out-of-print, however used copies can be purchased here. It is scheduled to be republished in 2006.
